[OVA] One Piece Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend

One Piece's Going Merry Ship Gets Its Own TV Special
Episode of Merry: Mō Hitori no Nakama no Monogatari to have all-new animation

Toei Animation announced on Monday that an all-new television anime special, One Piece Episode of Merry: Mō Hitori no Nakama no Monogatari (One Piece Episode of Merry: The Tale of One More Friend), will air on Saturday, August 24 at 9:00 p.m. (The One Piece television anime series normally airs on Sunday mornings.)

The story arcs aboard the Straw Hat Crew's first ship Going Merry (Merry Go in some adaptations) are recreated with brand-new animation, from Luffy and Usopp's fight and Robin's disappearance to the crew's final farewell to the ship. Going Merry is treated as another member of the Straw Hats as Luffy, Zoro, Nami, and the rest of the crew set sail for the legendary treasure, the One Piece.

The special will be airing almost exactly one year after the anime's previous One Piece Episode of Nami: Kōkaishi no Namida to Nakama no Kizuna special aired in 2012.
